What this is. A simulation of the cash circulating through a motorway concession company — a special-purpose vehicle that borrows to build the road, then collects toll revenue and discharges its obligations in a contractually fixed order of priority. Cash is treated as water: it is poured in at the top of the waterfall, and each claim is met, in rank, as it falls. Whatever survives to the bottom belongs to the shareholders.
The plumbing is drawn after the MONIAC — the Phillips Machine, a hydraulic computer built in 1949 that modelled a national economy as water moving between perspex tanks.
